Pettit Ultima SSA Single Season Ablative is an effective and economical antifouling boat bottom paint, suitable for both fresh and salt water environments. Ultima SSA can be used on most previously painted surfaces to protect wood, fiberglass and properly primed steel hulls against the buildup of marine organisms. It functions as an ablative, releasing biocide (copper) over time and wearing the paint film away, elmininating paint build up and the need for sanding. However, Ultima SSA bottom paint has an aggressive wear rate and must be lightly sanded if left out of the water for dry storage. One or two maintenance coats per season are recommended for optimal performance.
